This policy explains what data Nova collects, how it is used, and the rights you have as a user under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Nova is a completely free extension with no accounts, no paid features, no subscriptions, and no license keys. Nova may provide an optional link to support the Developer through Ko-fi, but Nova does not process or collect donations or payment information.
Nova stores all of your preferences — including your image gallery, per-page and global background assignments, excluded pages, and extension settings — directly in your browser via the Chrome Storage API (storage.local and storage.sync). This data never leaves your device or browser account except as described below.
If you have Chrome Sync enabled, storage.sync data (such as your gallery and background assignments) is replicated to your other devices through your Google Account. This synchronisation is entirely managed by Google and is outside the scope of this extension.
If you add a custom wallpaper by entering an image URL, that URL is stored only in your local/synced Chrome storage as described above. Nova does not send it to the Developer or to any server operated by the Developer. When the wallpaper is displayed, your browser will request the image directly from wherever it is hosted (for example Unsplash, Pexels, or a URL you provide); that request is handled by your browser like any normal image load on a webpage, not by Nova's own infrastructure.
Nova ships with a small built-in library of wallpaper images (with URLs pointing to services such as Unsplash and Pexels) bundled inside the extension itself. Browsing this library does not involve any request to a server operated by the Developer; images are loaded directly from those third-party image hosts by your browser.
Nova does not collect, transmit, or store any analytics, usage statistics, crash reports, or browsing data on any server operated by the Developer. There is no account system, no license key, no telemetry, and no advertising of any kind.
Nova does not collect or process payment information. Nova does not have its own payment processing infrastructure.
Nova may provide an optional link to the Developer's profile on Ko-fi. Clicking this link takes you to an external website operated by Ko-fi. Nova does not transmit personal data to Ko-fi and does not control the data collected by Ko-fi when you visit its website or make a donation.
Any personal data collected during your use of Ko-fi, including information associated with a donation, is processed according to Ko-fi's own Privacy Policy and, where applicable, the privacy policy of the third-party payment provider used for the transaction.
Nova does not transmit personal data to the Developer or process it on the Developer's behalf. All storage described above takes place locally on your device (or, if you enable Chrome Sync, within your own Google Account, under Google's privacy policy). Because no personal data is processed by the Developer, no separate GDPR legal basis is required for the Developer's own processing activities.
All locally stored data persists until you uninstall the extension or manually clear it (for example via Chrome's extension storage settings, or an in-extension "reset" feature if available).
Nova does not share user data with third parties and does not send personal data to Ko-fi.
Nova may contain an optional link to the Developer's Ko-fi profile. When you click this link, your browser navigates to the external Ko-fi website. From that point onward, Ko-fi may collect and process information according to its own Privacy Policy.
If you choose to make a donation through Ko-fi, the transaction may involve third-party payment providers such as PayPal or Stripe. Those providers may process payment and personal information according to their own privacy policies and terms.
Nova does not receive payment card details, banking information, or other payment credentials from Ko-fi or from the payment providers.
For wallpaper functionality, your browser may also load images directly from third-party hosting services such as Unsplash, Pexels, or URLs you provide yourself. These services may process standard web request information according to their own privacy policies.
Nova does not integrate with any analytics platform, advertising network, or payment processing service. Nova may, however, provide links that allow users to voluntarily visit third-party websites, such as Ko-fi.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or erase personal data held about you. Because Nova stores all of your data locally on your own device (and, optionally, in your own Google Account via Chrome Sync) rather than on a server controlled by the Developer, you can access, export, or erase this data at any time directly within the extension or by uninstalling it. This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the extension's functionality. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the extension after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
